MAD ABOUT HATS?

Are you one of those: “I wannabe a hat wearer”? Should I wear a hat or not wear a hat? Well the good news is there are no rules for should or should not. Not long ago, all women wore hats for any and all occasions. Today, women either love the way they look in a hat or they don’t. There’s really no mystery to wearing hats. Everyone can wear a hat! You may agree, or feel that you don’t look good in one. The secret is finding the hat style that looks best according to your individual makeup, facial shape, and body style. Attitude is everything.

Have you noticed that women who wear hats exude confidence? Not only does a hat accessorize your appearance, but it can also change your persona. You can be anything you want to be – romantic, sassy yet seductive, chic or fabulous, flirty and colorful. Hats can be fun and unique to the individual. Different hats do different things. Red hats celebrate spirit, berets say “meet me at the coffee house,” or a time for any youthful activity. Cocktail hats command every eye in the room and then there are the more whimsical than fashionable hats. Always wear the style of hat that is appropriate for the occasion and coordinates with your outfit.

A few simple tips for wearing a hat are: If you have an oval face, you are able to wear almost any style of hat. Wear the hat straight across the brow or straight across the hairline; with a triangular face you want to take the focus from the strong jaw line. Wear a hat that has a short, uneven brim and a high crown, avoid hats with pointed crowns or sharp angles; a round face, you should wear a hat with height, and wear the brim on an angle to offset the roundness. The square shaped face should wear asymmetrical lines and slant the brim on an angle; with an oblong facial shape it’s best to avoid height and very narrow brims. If you are a full figured woman, avoid high crowns and wear hats with curled brims and dramatic creases, a tall woman should wear a wider brimmed and shorter crowned hats. Petite women should wear small brimmed and crowned hats.
