Have you switched to waterproof mascara this summer? This scorching weather calls for extreme measures. Waterproof mascara can be a face saver when the mercury rises. (Tip: Do not use waterproof mascara all the time, can dry out your lashes and is harder to remove)

To seal the deal, use a makeup sealer. It will help to keep your look intact. It’s refreshing, too!

Are you one of those: “I wannabe a hat wearer”? Should I wear a hat or not wear a hat? Well the good news is there are no rules for should or should not. Not long ago, all women wore hats for any and all occasions. Today, women either love the way they look in a hat or they don’t. There’s really no mystery to wearing hats. Everyone can wear a hat! You may agree, or feel that you don’t look good in one. The secret is finding the hat style that looks best according to your individual makeup, facial shape, and body style. Attitude is everything.

Have you noticed that women who wear hats exude confidence? Not only does a hat accessorize your appearance, but it can also change your persona. You can be anything you want to be - romantic, sassy yet seductive, chic or fabulous, flirty and colorful. Hats can be fun and unique to the individual. Different hats do different things. Red hats celebrate spirit, berets say “meet me at the coffee house,” or a time for any youthful activity. Cocktail hats command every eye in the room and then there are the more whimsical than fashionable hats. Always wear the style of hat that is appropriate for the occasion and coordinates with your outfit.

A few simple tips for wearing a hat are: If you have an oval face, you are able to wear almost any style of hat. Wear the hat straight across the brow or straight across the hairline; with a triangular face you want to take the focus from the strong jaw line. Wear a hat that has a short, uneven brim and a high crown, avoid hats with pointed crowns or sharp angles; a round face, you should wear a hat with height, and wear the brim on an angle to offset the roundness. The square shaped face should wear asymmetrical lines and slant the brim on an angle; with an oblong facial shape it’s best to avoid height and very narrow brims. If you are a full figured woman, avoid high crowns and wear hats with curled brims and dramatic creases, a tall woman should wear a wider brimmed and shorter crowned hats. Petite women should wear small brimmed and crowned hats.

Find a color which complements your skin tone

Wear your hair differently. Tuck you hair behind your ears, or pull it back into a bun

Wear a hat that best fits your facial shape

If the hat falls over your ears, it’s too large, if it feels tight, go up a size

Make sure your hat complements your outfit and body shape

Hat etiquette dictates that women’s hats can remain on indoors. Out of courtesy, if you are in a theatre be aware of the height of your hat so as not to block the person’s view behind you. If it does, remove it, and place it in your lap.

If your nails are stained from wearing dark nail polish, here’s a simple trick you can use to help whiten them. Slice a lemon in two, and squeeze its juice into a shallow bowl Soak your tips in the lemon juice for a few minutes, then rinse.

FOOT MASSAGE

Try massaging a heavy moisturizer into your feet right before you go to bed. It will help to soften them and it's a great way to relax.

BEAUTY PRODUCTS

When we love a beauty product, we usually use it down to the last drop. By that time, the label is barely readable. It's a good idea to have a record of your absolute favorite product, either in a little book or in an electronic document. Always document the brand, name, color and anything else you feel would make this product special. This way you won't be going through magazines, or old makeup samples for the information.

BEAUTY TREAT

Give yourself a beauty treat at least once a week. Often the smallest indulgences can make a difference in how you feel about yourself. Try a new lip color or pick up a new moisturizing cream bath body wash and experience a "new you!"

Spend less money on "fads."

Never shop when you tired. Effective shopping takes energy, thinking and most of all-- enthusiasm.

Avoid purchasing items that will have to have many alterations.

Consider price, fabric weight, color, workmanship, style and length.

Try on articles of clothing before buying.

Spend time window shopping, look through fashion magazines and newspaper ads to get an idea of what is available and will it work into your wardrobe.

Shop off hours. You will receive more attention when it is less crowded from a salesperson.

Check garment thoroughly for all buttons, belts, broken zippers, and hooks and eyes.

Shop early in the season when the selection is better and the stores are displaying its new "season look."

When purchasing an entire outfit for a specific occasion, buy the dress, shoes, purse, accessories, and makeup in that order.

Try on clothes in front of a three-way mirror to get the full effect. Does it bunch, too tight, crooked seams?

When purchasing items, always inquire about the store's return or exchange policy and always keep your receipt.

Develop a relationship with a salesperson. (Look for a salesperson that is fashionably dressed) If you like her help, ask her to call you when new items come in. Don't be afraid to tell her how much you plan to spend.
