YOU AND YOUR IMAGE

PURCHASE PLANNING

In today’s hectic world, there is just no time for ineffective shopping.

Invest in “Lifetime quality clothing” especially if you are planning to wear it often.  Jackets and skirts often fall into this category.  It will last longer and look better.

Spend less money on “fads.”

Never shop when you tired.  Effective shopping takes energy, thinking and most of all– enthusiasm.

Avoid purchasing items that will have to have many alterations.

Consider price, fabric weight, color, workmanship, style and length.

Try on articles of clothing before buying.

Spend time window shopping, look through fashion magazines and newspaper ads to get an idea of what is available and will it work into your wardrobe.

Shop off hours.  You will receive more attention when it is less crowded from a salesperson.

Check garment thoroughly for all buttons, belts, broken zippers, and hooks and eyes.

Shop early in the season when the selection is better and the stores are displaying its new “season look.”

When purchasing an entire outfit for a specific occasion, buy the dress, shoes, purse, accessories, and makeup in that order.

Try on clothes in front of a three-way mirror to get the full effect.  Does it bunch, too tight, crooked seams?

When purchasing items, always inquire about the store’s return or exchange policy and always keep your receipt.

Develop a relationship with a salesperson.  (Look for a salesperson that is fashionably dressed) If you like her help, ask her to call you when new items come in.  Don’t be afraid to tell her how much you plan to spend.

2 tablespoons minced parsley stems
1/2 large white onion — minced
1 dash Tabasco sauce
1/2 cup bland cooking oil
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup dry Chenin Blanc
12 large green shrimp — peeled with tails

– on Unflavored breadcrumbs Melt Butter

Combine first 7 ingredients. Marinate shrimp overnight in mixture. Remove shrimp from marinade. Immediately roll, undrained, in breadcrumbs. Place on combination broiling and serving platter. Dribble melted butter over shrimp. Add marinade to 1/8 in. in bottom of broiler pan. Broil slowly on low heat until done. Note: Use Tabasco sauce in place of pepper; it blends better with other ingredients. Use only white bread crumbs, brown crumbs or crusts will brown too fast during cooking. Alternative method of preparation: Saute shrimp in combination of half butter and half cooking oil. When done, remove from skillet. Reduce marinade in skillet, pour over shrimp and serve.
